Telugu School Vision - Telugu School

Telugu School Vision

Goals

  • Prepare our children to speak in conversational Telugu
  • Improve their Telugu vocabulary
  • Develop sufficient working knowledge in Telugu

Classes

  • Will be conducted every Sunday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at CVHTS Temple
  • Initially there will be only one section. But the different levels of Telugu proficiency will be taken into consideration while teaching. Skills of senior students will be used while teaching the students
  • If the response is good, another section will be added differentiating the levels of their exposure
  • The first half an hour will be dedicated to learning to write the Telugu alphabets, Telugu grammar, see the level of interest from students in this area and expand the scope
  • The second hour in the class will be dedicated to learning Telugu words, numbers etc., and forming sentences. There will be quite a few conversational exercises. Learning medium will be Telugu and there will be humorous English-Telugu skits for improving the vocabulary
  • Next half an hour will be story telling dedicated to learning about the culture, arts, geography, history etc. about India and Andhra Pradesh. There will be special invitees to talk about specific interesting topics
  • Minimum age for attending this class is five years

General

  • Classes will start punctually on time and any tardiness or in-discipline will not be allowed, as it disturbs the whole class
  • There will be no home work, but talking to the children at home about what they learnt in the class and making conversation in Telugu at home will speed up the learning process. The whole effort from me will be a waste, if the parents don't support the activity at home
  • Every student must bring a notebook, a binder and a pencil or pen to write
  • Every year at the Sankranti and Ugadi cultural programs, Telugu School children will participate by singing Telugu song or acting in a Telugu drama
  • Though we try to maintain a very safe environment in the class, either the teacher or TACT is NOT responsible for any unsafe activities practiced by students and the consequences thereof
  • We will take attendance in each class. If your child is unable to attend a class for whatever reason, please let us know at least a day in advance by telephone
  • Thanks and let us all participate in this effort to make our children interested in Telugu
