Now the flowers are blooming and there is green everywhere. We all know how precious the sunshine is in Connecticut. I wish you all a very happy, safe and enjoyable summer to you and to your family.
Let me once again thank You for electing me unanimously as a President of Telugu Association of Connecticut (TACT) for the next two years and for electing the Executive Committee. There are at least a couple of reasons for the election process going so smooth. First, I believe TACT members have shown their appreciation to the work done by the previous committee which translates into your faith and confidence in the new Committee to carry forward the TACT traditions and its values into newer heights. Second, the election process was efficient, transparent and smooth thanks to the excellent efforts by the Election Committee, constituted of the Board of Trusties. I want to extend my gratitude to the BOT, the outgoing President, the other office bearers and the EC on this occasion.
I know this is just the beginninnig, albeit a good one. Even in the midst of economic gloom, job losses and other disturbances that shift our attention, there are many good reasons why we need a little deviation from all this and be part of an Organization that strives to be as a source of our identity, culture, traditions, language and arts.
I have set priorities to make TACT one such organization. I am listing some of those here:
1. To carry forward the new initiatives implemented in last few years, including Telugu Magazine, Telugu Badi, TACTUSA.NET Website and TACT helpline with renewed vigor.
2. To extend the TACT member benefits by negotiating the deals with the businesses that provide goods and services, particularly in transportation, financial, educational and food &entertainment sectors.
3. To make the TACT programs more attractive and relevant to the Telugu Community of CT in general and the youth in particular.
4. To increase the membership of TACT that reflects the true strength of our Telugu speaking population in Connecticut.
5. To make TACT the first hand reference source for any help, information or representation, to the Telugu Community in CT.
6. To make TACT an integral part of the neighborhood and engage in community services in the state of Connecticut.
These goals are exemplary yet difficult as you can see them, but can be achievable with your enthusiastic support. On our part we are committed to put the extra time and effort with integrity and dedication. I set up several committees and office bearers within the Executive Committee with set targets, responsibilities and authority to achieve the above goals. I will be sharing those details shortly in the Website and in my regular news mails to you.
Last but not the least, any organization is only as good as the strength and participation of their members constituting the organization. As our strength increases, so does the quality of the programs, number of benefits, bargains and new initiatives. Your participation, support and feed back are the cornerstones for the organizations success. Spread the word, join the new members and provide us the feedback good, bad and ugly. We are willing to listen, change and improve.
Please send your comments and feedback to tactusa@gmail.com. Thanks for your continued support and I hope to see a more engaged community.
